The design for Papendorp Business Park in Utrecht, The Netherlands, has been named the 'Best of building production in Utrecht' and thus won the Rietveld Award 2009. Bureau West 8, located in Rotterdam, Toronto and New York designed it together with Wissing Stedebouw en Ruimtelijke Vormgeving. For the first time, a landscape and urban design project has won the award instead of a building.

The awards ceremony took place in Utrecht. The Rietveld Award is a bi-annual award and aims to stimulate the quality of the built environment of the city of Utrecht. The jury commented: “The value of this plan for Utrecht is that it sends out a signal to the city, as well as to the Netherlands. This plan is the legitimate winner of the Rietveld Prize 2009.”

A public choice award was also given to Eindhoven-based DHV Architects for their Simed Health Care Group project in Utrecht.
