Boogaerts, who studied at ArtEZ, the Arnhem Academy of Art and Design, presented bright, angular, ladylike designs. The Belgian said her collection was the result of imagining what might have happened had her country’s Queen Fabiola fallen in love with a Dutchman in 1958 and discovered Mondriaan and Rietveld.

LICHTING was founded in 2007 to bridge the gap between the academies and students on the one side and the talent-hungry fashion industry on the other. It brings together the very best of each of the 7 Dutch fashion academies. LICHTING is an initiative of Amsterdam International Fashion Week, HTNK - Fashion Recruitment & Consultancy, and Premsela - Dutch Platform for Design and Fashion, in collaboration with G-Star Raw.
For the third year in a row LICHTING provides a platform for the next generation of fashion talent. The concept of LICHTING is simple: the best of 2009's graduates in one central catwalk show. 14 students in total will show their 5 strongest graduating pieces. Both decision makers within the audience and a professional international panel of fashion connaisseurs will decide who will receive the ‘G-Star Raw Talent Award' of the year 2009. LICHTING is very proud to announce that Susanna Lau - fashion blogger alias Susie Bubble at stylebubble.typepad.com and online editor at Dazed & Confused - and Professor Wendy Dagworthy - one of the founders of London Fashion Week and head of the School of Fashion and Textiles at London's Royal College of Art - will be part of the panel.

International denim brand G-Star Raw will, like last year, be the official supporter of LICHTING 2009. In order to motivate the graduating students and stimulate them to keep developing their talents in the coming years, G-Star presents the G-Star Raw Talent Award; a 10.000,- euro prize and experience trip to New York. The winner will be part of the G-Star Raw backstage team during the upcoming New York Fashion Week show, September 15th 2009.
