The focus country programmes are phased: preliminary activities will be followed by highlights and follow-ups. The phasing of the cycles for the three focus countries will be such, that highlights will be spread over the four years.
Preliminary activities can for instance include research into opportunities and partnerships for Dutch design in the country in question, visitors’ programmes (for international media, commissioners and curators), lectures, presentations, workshops and master-classes.
These will lead to a series of highlights – manifestations, exhibitions, conferences, trade missions, events – aimed at raising maximum awareness with wider audiences, the media, professional circles, governments and industries.
This will be succeeded by careful follow-up – the maintenance and strengthening of networks, follow-up through new projects and commissions, and continuation of media attention. This cycle can be repeated for each DutchDFA programme focus country.
